I heard from a workshop client to let me know about the coastal moves on her vision board . She wanted to let me know that most of the images on her vision board had come true.
I was particularly delighted to hear she’d moved to the coast because it was very much in her heart to do so while her head had tried to talk her out of it. In the end she had listened to the quiet voice of her intuition within and the outcome is an inspiration to us all.
I come across people regularly who hanker after living on the coast> Maybe that desire doesn’t run deep enough. Or maybe they allow themselves to be talked out of it. But this woman didn’t. She went for it.
Working in town, living on the coast
“It has been an amazing journey the last 12 months and one I would not have believed possible a year ago. We’d always hoped to move to the coast when we retired and we wanted to live close to a sandy beach with a nice town and a shopping area nearby. In all the years we’ve been looking, we’d never seen anywhere that fitted the bill. But within a month of making the intuitive vision board we discovered a place in Dorset, which gave us everything we were looking for.
“The move has come with its stresses and I have had some wobbles along the way, particularly when it came to buying a house which was right for us. We have ended up with one in our dream location but which doesn’t yet tick all the boxes. However when the building work is complete, we’ll have a house that is perfect for us. Meanwhile we are renting a small property in Berkshire so we can sustain our work practices during the week and this enabled us to move to the coast now rather than wait until retirement.
“The first house we went for was a bit of a compromise in terms of the garden. But we’ve since settled on another 11 doors down which matches all the garden details featured on my vision board – the greenhouse, the vegetable beds, the potting shed and a huge additional outbuilding which my husband now uses for his art studio.
“We hired a camper van similar to the one on my vision board for a day in August and on the very same day we viewed a house which led to an offer two days later. I couldn’t understand why I’d chosen the living room image (bottom left on my board) because it was not our style at all. However, the curtains turned out to be incredibly similar to the bedroom curtains of the couple whom we bought the house from.
“What about the pasta dish on my board? This year I’ve mastered homemade pesto and it’s now become a regular feature of our diets. I have also experimented with making new desserts, including homemade pastry for fruit tarts, not dissimilar to the ones I had illustrated. I’d never got beyond the first flavour of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream but since the ice cream image on the board, I have tried lots of other flavours too.
“The images of people on the board have come to pass too. They spoke to me strongly about the importance of friendship. And since we’ve moved down here we’ve made new friends already and two of my long-standing friends came to visit within two days of us moving house. Many thanks, Mary, for helping to set us off along the path we are now travelling.”
