Let the sunshine in
Eleni, originally from Greece, lives in Notting Hill in a leafy avenue where you pay premium prices for rentals. It was the tiniest, cutest room with a small mezzanine floor containing her bed and a ladder up to it, with a study area, wardrobe and wardrobe underneath. The remaining space housed an armchair, chest of drawers and the mantle piece.
It’s hard to imagine we’d spend 1 ½ hours rearranging it – but we did – and very successfully. We converted this bijoux space into a creative hub that would enable Eleni’s creative juices to flow and her romantic dreams to manifest.
Living in a space she loved meant she felt good about herself and this increased her self-esteem and gave her more confidence.
“I rent a small bedroom in a beautiful area of London. Although I love the neighbourhood, I was upset by how I was unable to keep my space tidy. Mary’s visit transformed my small bedroom into a magical space which no longer feels small. In the weeks following I could feel this explosion of creativity inside me.”
Furloughed opportunity
The transformation of the room occurred just in time. Shortly after Eleni was furloughed from her Office Manager job. Confined to home, she declared what a blessing it was to be in this room and was ready to take things one step further:
“While furloughed I attended Mary’s online Intuitive Vision Board workshop with one of my best friends. It was fantastic. Two and a half hours online passed in a flash. My vision board is beautiful and I cannot stop looking at it. I’m mystified by the large number of images of women dressed in white, many of them paired with a handsome man. The board feels harmonious, peaceful and loving and I’m looking forward to what comes next in my life.”
Feng Shui launches Eleni’s fashion brand
What happened next was fabulous and unexpected. In confinement, Eleni stepped up her German language studies with a sub-text to live in Germany. While participating in an online training, she began a conversation with a handsome German …
She already had a beautiful collection of clothes in her wardrobe and hankered after a desire to enter the fashion industry. In lockdown her paintings began to proliferate and two months in she came up with the idea to use them to launch her own T shirt brand. She’d also had time to get to know her neighbour better who turned out to be a fashion designer, loved her designs and encouraged her to go for it.
https://missbirdofparadise.com took flight using 6 original designs and 6 different T shirt styles. The cotton is organic and the fabric so soft and mostly sustainable. Eleni hit on this name because she loves the sunshine, birds and flowers and all things bright and exotic. She is busy designing her Autumn collection.
Ready for redundancy
Soon after her brand was launched, Eleni was made redundant. While it came as a shock, she quickly realised this would enable another of her dreams to come true. To be able to run a business from home that would sit alongside starting a family.
The icing on the cake came when Eleni was spotted modelling her T shirts on Instagram and scouted by numerous modelling agencies. She chose a couple, did some photo shoots and they signed her up.
Congratulations Eleni for your ingenuity, commitment and above all, following your heart. And proof below that even the older Birds of Paradise can wear your designs as modelled by me below.
