Katy was living with a ‘missing corner’ which I discovered immediately the first time we met. She was at a low point in her life due to personal tragedy. Her business was suffering as a consequence and needed a major rethink.  We used Feng Shui to help her to move on and address the ‘missing’ corners.

My first task is always to evaluate if there are any latent difficulties in the property and the surrounding environment. The missing corner was likely to be a case in point and would need to be addressed. Then it’s for me to observe how the occupants are interacting with the space.  The imprint they leave gives me a reading of how this supports or runs contrary to their hopes and desires.  My job is to bring the environment into conscious alignment with their future vision.

Katy’s account of her ‘missing corner’

“Mary was recommended by a friend.  I remember the first time she came to my house, one of the first things she said was:

“Your wealth corner is missing and your relationship corner is full of kids and dogs.” This pretty much summed up my life at the time!

“I was resurfacing from a very troubled period and personal tragedy. Mary asked me lots of questions and made recommendations that helped see the space around me, where I both lived and worked, was an outward reflection of me.  This included the sections that were a bit neglected and damaged.”

“I started immediately to make shifts in my environment and was amazed to make the connection between how what goes on on the inside is recreated on the outside – and vice versa.  For the first time in ages, I began to enjoy my home. the security it gave me, and the space to raise my family well and host my friends.”

Feng Shui implemented in dribs and drabs

“Since the initial comprehensive Feng Shui consultation I have developed the rest of my home as time and money allowed. Always very much according to the initial recommendations and a couple of follow up visits from Mary.”

“Some of these changes were very significant and shifted the foundations of my home. For instance we opened up the kitchen into the conservatory.  We removed a large overhanging beam that spanned the width of the room. Once gone, it was easier to integrate the remainder of the kitchen which had been fragmented.

“Other shifts have been easier to do but nonetheless still had a significant impact. This one directly addressed the “missing corner” which had sat in the Money corner of my home.

“Where the trampoline had sat on the patio, we replaced with an outdoor sofa and easy chairs. This allowed us to gather around the fire-pit (addition), complete with fairy lights. We rearranged the plants in tubs, changing the colours of the cushions. We added a water feature to this area for the summer months. This is where we now sit as a family with our friends on summer evenings. It truly feels abundant.”

Abundant living

“When I caught up with Mary again for a top-up consultation, it brought back to me just how far I had come in my life and in my living and working environment. I love the way my home looks and feels now, and how well it works for me and my family to live and love in.

“There was no concrete ‘grand plan’ to make my home the way it is now.  We knew what we were aiming for in principle and the details emerged gradually over time.  To me this the beauty of Feng Shui – to create an embodied space that is living and reflects our past, present and future lives lived together.”

“Thank you Mary for giving me chance to look at my space with a fresh pair of eyes. nd to create something beautiful for myself, my family and my friends.”

The Bagua map

By applying the Feng Shui Bagua map to Katy’s 4-bedroom urban home I could see immediately the Wealth & Abundance corner was missing so we needed to recreate this in some way.

In the garden Wealth & Abundance was overpowered by the neighbours’ trees and a trampoline sat there covered in leaves.  I recommended the trampoline be relocated to a lighter, brighter spot and the adjacent gazebo relocated to the Relationship corner of the garden.

We added a water feature to the missing corner so that the circulating water would feed the WOOD element of this area of the Bagua.

‘Helpful People’ also a ‘missing corner’

The Helpful People corner of the house had a slice missing while the remainder of this section contained Katy’s office.  The latter was full of furniture, paper and charts so chi could not circulate. Not surprisingly, the direction the business should take was unclear.

In the garden outside the office the missing slice of Helpful People contained many overgrown trees occupying too little space and overpowering the window onto Katy’s business. Some trees were removed. The remainder cut back and a bird table positioned so the area now teems with wildlife.

Inside in the office itself I recommended a significant rearrangement and replacement of furniture.  The office is now brighter with lots of METAL element employed which is good for business.  We swapped a bulky desk for a practical work surface that takes up less room and also accommodates two teenagers doing their homework alongside Katy in the evenings.

Katy reports a big swell in support from the ‘helpful people’ in her life over the last few years. Many appeared on the scene to help her move through the tragedy and also to transform her home.  She now has a huge network of friends and family as evidenced by the wonderful turnout for her summer parties, which fill the garden and home with laughter and love.
