I read a post from Hay House which said:
“Dear 2022 Vision Board, none of this sh*t was on my vision board.”
Ergo, I made it with the best intentions so what happened?
What did you expect, I thought to myself. Because you’re barking up the wrong tree. The headline was supposed to be funny – and it was. But there’s frustration in it too because expectations were not met. The year is not panning out the way it was expected to.
Very soon procrastination sets in. “I don’t know what to do so I’ll do nothing.
Then apathy. “Why bother at all because nothing’s going according to plan”. And mostly the vision board is abandonned.
When something unexpected happens to me that I’m not entirely happy about, I sit with my intuitive vision board and rest my attention there for a while. Very soon I spot something I haven’t seen before and with it the reassurance that everything is turning out exactly as it should be. When I intuitively read between the images I realise that everything is as it should be – even through the difficult moments.
The original approach to creating a vision board as implied by Hay House consists of finding images to represent “I want this …” and “I’m entitled to that …” This type of board will eventually run out of steam and lead to disappointment because it’s not a vision.
It’s a visualisation using ideas stored up in our heads about what we believe would make us happy; the actions we believe are necessary to drive our lives forward.
The problem with this is that only one half of the brain was used to create this board – the logical left-brain half. So the vision, by definition, is limited. The remarkable right brain, where intuition and creativity lie in wake, has not been asked for an opinion at all.
You see just because we’ve visualised our ideas on a visualisation board doesn’t mean they can or will come true. There simply aren’t enough resources to satisfy global desire on this scale without destroying the planet and eliminating humanity as we are witnessing. Covid has thrust this truth in our face.
For a vision to be far-sighted and long-lasting, it needs to be aligned to something higher than our personal ego. For this additional ‘je ne sais quoi’, we need to have our antennae connected to super-conscious intelligence itself.
