I’ve just completed a vision board with Sam. I’ve led vision boarding for couples many times but this is the first time I’d made one as couple.
Vision boards for couples – the choices
Albeit, still in the early flush of ours, Sam and I decided to explore what was on the near horizon for us by making a vision board for couples. Taking a walk through the New Forest in the depths of winter for stillness, we gazed adoringly at the ponies and emptied our minds before returning home for our creative session by the fire.
Some couples like to make a large vision board together. Some prefer to make them separately and then compare them. We chose the latter.
Either way this intuitive process will deliver a broader, higher, different perspective on your relationship life. This is not to engender alarm or to point out the opportunities – and pitfalls – that may lie ahead. When these arise it means you are already awake to the possibility because they have appeared on your board. Otherwise you may overlook them when they occur and miss the chance to turn a trick.
Relationship board – the outcomes
This relationship board is only six months old and therefore still unfolding but I wanted to share the highlights so far. I strongly recommend you to do the same with your own vision board. Find the discipline to record the synchronicities and opportunities as they happen. It’s too easy to sweep over them, move on and forget that magic ever happened.
Making an Intuitive Vision Board is a deep practice in which you are communing with a higher intelligence, universal consciousness or whatever word you use to describe the spiritual dimension to your life. You are using your intuition for this. The more you appreciate and act on the guidance received, the stronger your intuitive muscle becomes. And synchronicities will occur with greater frequency when you notice them more.
Sri Lanka
A palm lined beach, a fire pit, a herd of elephants, a giant Buddha. And a forest with a clear path running through it, which Sam pointed out is a tea plantation. This is the curious conglomeration of images in the bottom right corner of my board. This section of my vision board corresponds to Travel, Networking and Connections when overlaid with the Bagua map (taken from my Feng Shui practice).
Completely out-of-the-blue and within two weeks of making this board, Sam was invited for a drink with some Sri Lankans, where he was headhunted to set up an operation to dismantle end-of-life passenger aircraft – both in the UK and in Sri Lanka. I immediately recalled the board. And me being Mary, went straight out and ordered a copy of The Lonely Planet Guide to Sri Lanka for Sam for Christmas while organising an Ayurvedic retreat to Sri Lanka in my head, to include a visit to an elephant sanctuary and a tea plantation.
As it happens four months later this project is on the back burner a tad since Sri Lanka is likely to change its government any minute in an attempt to avoid a full-blown humanitarian crisis. I sincerely believe that nothing goes to waste, including Sam’s initial preparation. Who knows how this project could mutate since the earth is littered with these end-of-life aircraft that need recycling.
Tourmaline crystal
There’s a distinctive pink and green theme featuring strongly in another section of my board – flowering vegetation, a characterful shack, a flower arrangement and Tourmaline crystals. The first three images are associated with the WOOD element (5-Elements in Feng Shui), which speaks to me of the growth potential this relationship will bring.
When I investigated the significance of green and pink Tourmaline, I was taken aback.
“Tourmaline is associated with the heart and healing. It can build inner strength and unite your heart, mind, and spirit in love and passion. It’s the stone that will bring you joy, satisfaction, commitment, and emotional stability, reassuring you it’s okay to love and live in love.”
Bang on the nail as far as we, as a couple, are concerned. So guess what? I went straight out and bought three pieces of Tourmaline and placed them prominently to catch the light.
Under the mistletoe, beside the Christmas tree
The couple stood under the mistletoe at the start of this blog is an emotive image for me. Unusually for me, the man is directing and the woman is listening.
The shepherd with his dog following the sky filled with stars also speaks to me similarly. In our relationship, Sam has lead the way because he had a clarity which I lacked at the start. Sam is the Shepherd and I am the Collie. Whoof ! Gently showing me the way, never cajoling, Sam was smart. He gave me the space to choose whether to follow – or not. And, when I did, it was at my own pace.
When it comes to the magic of vision boarding and Feng Shui and how these can improve our lives, then the roles are reversed and I take the lead. Sitting at the base of the Christmas tree the girl is introducing the boy to new delights as their ‘inner children’ explore together in a magical, peaceful, sparkling setting.
Intuitive Vision Boarding for couples
Ochre red, saffron yellow
When we made our couple’s vision board, we had talked about – but not committed – to living together. We had three months left to decide before our respective living arrangements came to an end. Neither of us had contemplated what style of property we would be living in – or where.
Events came together rapidly after Christmas (read the-house-on-the-hill-on-my-vision-board) and we moved into The Barn Cottage in the Spring. A late 18th century barn conversion, it shelters behind the farmhouse that once was the hub of this original Anglo-Saxon village settlement. The style, colours and textures we’ve used to furnish the cottage bear strong resemblances to images I’d placed on my board six months earlier.
Intuitive Vision Board for couples
So there we are so far… I hope it has inspired you to start intuitive vision boarding yourself. If you’d like me to facilitate a private Couple’s (or Partners) workshop for you, I’d be delighted. Either in-person or online please enquire here and let me know what dates might suit you.
With me as your experienced facilitator, I will make sure you drop into the intuitive zone and stay there throughout the making of your board(s) to achieve the best outcome. Otherwise your left-brain mind is likely to take over and choose the images for your board, so confident that it knows what’s best for you. However, what you want and what you need are two different things and your intuition will ensure you get your priorities right.
