It’s your time to shine because you never know how much life is left so best you fulfil the promise each new day brings.  No-one should die with their music still in them.

Lucinda Riley, an Irish Author of popular historical fiction, died of Cancer aged 55. It’s said that Lucinda had a concluding book to come, beyond the 6 she’d written already.  She never got to write it but left a substantial legacy nonetheless.

What is the promise that lies dormant in you?

A seed pod about to burst one day. Perhaps you know what it is already but something’s holding you back. Courage? Conviction? Fear of failure?

Writing a book is an obvious example. How many people have you heard say they have a book in them. Yet it doesn’t have to be a book for you be the ‘author’ of your kind of ‘music’. Some other way to share your expertise may work better.

Years ago I would frequent the Mind, Body Spirit fair in London where I met my Feng Shui teacher, Denise Linn from the USA. Each year I would visit the same psychic while there and each time he would say the same thing: “There is more to come from you, Mary.” I had no idea what that could be. I loved doing Feng Shui consultations … and still do… and had no intention of abandoning them.

Years later I went back to University to do an MA in Somatic Arts Psychotherapy. It was then the idea for the Intuitive Vision Board came to me and, after years of running Intuitive Vision Board workshops, I wrote a book about it – Awaken your Intuitive Vision. Becoming an author had never been on my radar until one day I woke with the thought: “It’s time to write a book.” A few days later my path crossed with a book mentor who specialised in business-building books – and I took this as confirmation.

Not just about business

Launching a proprietary method and writing a book is not an easy ride. It takes determination, committment and courage. Anything of consequence is not of that nature so be prepared for that. However striving to express a more authentic version of yourself will stretch you – and you’ll grow as a consequence.

Writing about what you know or teaching people a new skill doesn’t have to be about business. There are many gifted ‘experts’ who impact the lives who don’t run businesses. It doesn’t mean their expertise isn’t valid. Or that they don’t deserve to shine.

If you are fascinated by a hobby or activity, you can bet someone else will be too. Perhaps there’s a niche where you’d like to be better known or bring to the attention of a wider audience. By sharing your expertise, perhaps combined with how you came to it in the first place (known as your ‘origin story’), is what people are inspired by.

Where might you shine?

If you’re mystified as to where you might shine, come and make an Intuitive Vision Board with me. The answer may jump off the vision board at you and include ideas you’ve never thought of before.

If years have passed since you first had the instinct to create a ‘something’ – whether it was a book to be written, a person to be wed, an enterprise to be created, or the desire to live somewhere else in the world – do something about it now before more time passes and the creative energy moves on to someone else. Or dump the notion and make space for something new to find you.

Besides, your idea as first conceived may turn out differently to the plan, morphing as you grapple with it. Ignoring the impulse to start because you can’t see where it’s going can block the flow to your creativity and show up as an unwanted block elsewhere in your life. And you don’t want that to happen!
